Wednesday

Last night it snowed.  The world freaked out and most school systems were shut down.  However it was maybe an inch or two, didn't get icy and was easy to brush off cars and drive over.  I decided to wear my boots to work to protect against the slush.
I am wearing my newish black cowl-neck sweater from Ann Taylor, my black cami from Second Base, dark straight-leg jeans from Not Your Daughter's Jeans, my tan "Bern" boots from DUO.  Brushed gold necklace from Ann Taylor and bracelet from Twisted Silver.  And that is Cindy, one of our inherited/adopted dogs.

Here I am in the car on the way to work.  My hair is second day, I used a round brush and dryer on parts to get rid of the bedhead.  Stila Illuminating tinted moisturizer, Laura Mercier Secret Camoflauge and bronzing powder, Revlon ColorStay shadow quad in Neutral Khakis, DiorShow mascara, Nars lipstick in Dolve Vita with a bit of clear lip gloss from Smashbox over it.

Monday I wore my blue cowl neck merino sweater from Ann Taylor with my black pants from Semantiks.  Yesterday I wore my black tank from Banana Republic, berry colored cardigan from Gap, gray flannel trousers from Ann Taylor, my gray funky shoes from Miz Mooz, and my black statement necklace from Ann Taylor.

I've been visiting here for a week or two and I love your blog! You have the cutest clothes and have a great eye for putting together outfits! We have similar physical builds, so I look forward to checking out your daily outfits to get ideas for myself!

Cute outfit - the jeans are very flattering on you!

How is the Second base working for you? Did you have to size up while ordering?

I got a size large and it fits great. It is brilliant- it doesn't roll up, it feels like nothing, is stretchy but doesn't look shiny or cheap and washes really well. Doesn't cling to other fabrics. I will be getting another one in a different color.

It is so good to see your gorgeous face (and lovely outfits), Allie! I am in LOVE with this outfit. The black sweater looks so cozy, and I love the jeans tucked into the boots!! Do you find the boots to be comfortable enough to walk a few blocks in? I am on the look out for a pair of really comfortable boots to keep the snow/water off me while I walk from my parking spot to my office (about four blocks).

Haha, Cindy got that name even before she was my father-in-law's dog (she was abandoned and he had a big heart). It's funny because my father-in-law's sister is named Cindy. Good thing this is a good looking dog! :)

I love love LOVE these boots. I recently raved about them at wardrobeoxygen.com - best purchase I have made in the footwear department. I put some Kiwi insoles from Target in them to make them even more comfortable. But yes, I wear these to Bonnaroo music festival because I know I can stand and walk in them all day without pain.

I wish they came in a style with a bit higher of a heel and another inch or two taller of a shaft. If they did I would buy them in black and dark brown.

Ummm, yea. You look adorable. Great outfit! I still have not found the right jeans to wear tucked into boots... I bought a cheapo pair of skinnies from Express years ago, but they're just obnoxiously low rise and I'm constantly pulling them up so as not to moon anyone. My straight legs from the GAP are too bunchy to stuff into boots after one wear (GAP jeans stretch out so much, yet I keep buying them, why??). And I have this amzing pair of straight legs from of all places Kohl's (Elle brand) but again, they're just not form fitting enough to tuck in, I look like a pirate.

That was quite the digression. Point is, you look fantastic, and those jeans are perfect on you. ;)

Allie,

Just love this outfit on you! I have the Ann Taylor sweater in lavendar. The cowl neck seems to come low on me...yours just looks nicer! And I love the necklace with it.

In yesterday's post you mentioned a black statement necklace from Ann Taylor. Is it one of the new ones? They are so pretty.

Oh..your shawl cardigan from Christmas day. Wanted to tell you that I tried it on before the holidays and resisted. Well after I saw it on you...I had a store search done and now I own it in the grey. I just love it. It is my go to sweater.

Sounds as though we have the same sweater - I do need to wear a cami with it (love the one I have from Second Base) so I don't show off my bra.

The necklace is from the Spring... I think '08 collection. Not a new one. No one ever thinks it is from AT, it looks a bit... goth.

And that shawl sweater I tried on several times before purchasing because I thought it looked dumpy and was overpriced. I got a 40% off coupon for one item and decided to get it and now it too is my go-to sweater. Great with jeans and an ivory pashmina for casual events where I want to be comfy but look pulled together!

I got a kick out of the way your dog is sitting leaning to one side. Sitting like a person not a dog, sooo cute!!! Love your outfit - that's how I like to dress to.
